Yesterday we asked if aliens were going to appear over Alabama, and our space brethren failed to show up (or there will be some weaselling out of it, like the aliens were invisible or two millimetres tall or their presence was on a higher vibrational plane than we mere mortals, and TV cameras, can perceive) but UFOs did appear over... Obama:
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it a... UFO?
One thing's for sure, there appeared to be SOMETHING in the sky over Philadelphia Saturday during the Obama rally, which rocker Bruce Springsteen headlined.

Hat tip to red pill junkie
I'd count it as a swing and a miss there, but I suspect that someone, somewhere might be thinking this is the best way to wriggle out from the claims.
Putting that aside for now what this also helps underline is how this is one of the most Fortean US elections that I can think of. Usually we get treated to conspiracies concerning vote-rigging or the machinations of secret elites (with, shall we say, variable levels of likelihood) but some of the stories being dragged up in this election, go off the deep end into wilder waters than usual. So I thought the UFOs would give me a cheap excuse to touch on them, without, obviously, taking any partisan line on who our cousins on the side of the Pond should vote, for naturally (I consider most politicians to be self-serving, dirt bags who have climbed over hundreds of people to get to their position, which is more a reflection of hunger for power and their rampant narcissism than their ability to lead).
First up, we have Obama accused of Satanism via his connections with Oprah:
In a series of essays published at www.solvinglight.com/blog/, author Robert Bowie Johnson Jr. presents evidence that Barack Obama is directly linked to Satanic teachings through his close association with Oprah Winfrey, who parrots and relentlessly promotes, worldwide, the anti-Christian doctrine of her guru, Eckhart Tolle. A summary:
...
Tolle's "Source" tells him and Oprah that the word of the God of the Bible cannot be trusted, that there is no death, and that he and Oprah both are as God, able to say of themselves, "I Am That I Am." These things that the "Source" has told Tolle and Oprah are the same things the ancient serpent told Eve in the garden. According to Scripture, Satan is another name for the ancient serpent.
"The voting public has a right to know to what degree Barack Obama, who has called himself a 'committed Christian,' considers himself and his wife to be integral parts of Oprah's and Tolle's New Age global tribe, a tribe that has adopted the "wisdom" of the ancient serpent as its own," Mr. Johnson said.

Thankfully, Sarah Palin has some spiritual armour if the election battle takes to the astral plane (I'm picturing it looking like Ditko-era Doctor Strange). Not only does she have some extreme fundamentalists praying for a McCain victory and his rapid demise but she may also be protected from occult forces:
A grainy YouTube video surfaced Wednesday showing Sarah Palin being blessed in her hometown church three years ago by a Kenyan pastor who prayed for her protection from "witchcraft" as she prepared to seek higher office.
The video shows Palin standing before Bishop Thomas Muthee in the pulpit of the Wasilla Assembly of God church, holding her hands open as he asked Jesus Christ to keep her safe from "every form of witchcraft."

More on the Pastor's witch hunting:
In 1988, Pastor Muthee and his wife traveled to Kenya after being "called by God." Setting up shop in the basement of a grocery store, they claim to have brought 200 people "to God" and away from the town's "spiritual oppression."
The source of the oppression? Witchcraft, Muthee says. When researching the community, they found that a woman named "Mama Jane" ran a divination clinic that drew a large following in the town.
“We prayed, we fasted, the Lord showed us a spirit of witchcraft resting over the place,” Pastor Muthee said.
Muthee made his experiences into a video called Transformations, which documents his "spiritual warfare" against demons and occult practices. Spiritual warfare is more common in Latin America and Africa, where the concept of day-to-day demons has a stronger hold. The video's trailer is available here.
The film -- and Muthee's practices -- received treatment in a 1999 Christian Science Monitor article.
"According to accounts of the witchhunt circulated on evangelical websites such as Prayer Links Ministries, after Pastor Muthee declared Mama Jane a witch, the townspeople became suspicious and began to turn on her, demanding that she be stoned," the London Times noted Tuesday. "Public outrage eventually led the police to raid her home, where they fired gunshots, killing a pet python which they believed to be a demon."
At the same meeting some more apocalyptic topics were touched on:
Palin's speech accompanied the Wasilla Assembly of God's Masters' Commission, which the church's pastor said will allow Alaska to become a refuge for American evangelicals during the coming "end of days" -- or Armageddon.

Which might explain something else that cropped up on our pop culture radar: If you are looking for more than presidential candidates in comics (and actual presidents) then perhaps Palin kicking evil ass might suit you:

Not scary enough for you? Then perhaps you are made of stern enough stuff to open the pages of the dread tome, The Palinomicon!!
Given the fact that the economy is still nervous and political tensions will be sure to ratchet up a few notches in the run up to the big day, I wouldn't be surprise if more outpourings of the collective consciousness bubble up into the memesphere somewhere (or even penetrating the Fortosphere) and we'll be watching out for it, from our hermetically sealed news bunker somewhere beneath Svalbard (well you can never be too careful).
Warning: This blog entry was brought to you for entertainment purposes only and should not influence the way you vote. Although, that said, some people are probably making their minds up on far less sensible grounds, so who am I to judge?
Update
So we now have the final answer to the questions raised in the post: Who do the aliens support?
